Practice on Tuesday 5th December

Hi All

As Tuesday’s class is the first session of the month, the session will start at 7:00 with a normal class until around 8:30.

The remainder of the class will be using Jo and possibly bokken, so please bring weapons if you have them.

If you’re a beginner, don’t worry, just come along and enjoy a different aspect of aikido. If you can’t make the 7:00 start, again, don’t worry, just come at normal time 8:00.

The first session of each month will be of this format.

Cheers – Steve

Aikido Christmas Curry – Confirmation

Hi All,

The details for the Christmas Curry  on Friday Evening 8th December are as follows :-

7:00 to 7:30 – Meet at Poppyfields Pub

No 1 Telstar Way, Duston, Northampton, NN5 6GT

8:30 – Meal at Cinnamon Restaurant

2 Malvern Grove, Duston, Northampton NN5 6AY

The restaurant is about a 10 minute walk from Poppyfields, but I’m sure there will be spare seats in cars, for those not driving.

The restaurant allows us to take our own booze, so the club will provide a selection of Beer / Lager / Wine for the meal !

If you could please confirm your attendance so I can confirm numbers for meal (and booze) that would be great.  Don’t just reply to this email, as I don’t get notifications that way.

Please either email me directly at s.copson@btinternet.com or text me on 07808 571089, or, if all else fails, you could always let me know when you come to practice 🙂

We look forward to seeing you there, it should be a great evening !

Cheers – steve

Hi All

As has become the custom, we’re looking at having a few beers and a curry in Duston on Friday 8th December (Partners welcome). Exact details of venue to follow, but probably the Cinnamon Restaurant for the meal with a pub before and possibly after somewhere.

Can you please email me at s.copson@btinternet.com / text me / speak to me so I can confirm numbers and make a booking please ?

Please don’t reply to this mail, as I don’t get replies to emails sent from the website.

Thursday June 1st – No practice

Hi everyone, I think I’ve managed to contact you all already, either in person or by text, but just in case I’ve missed some of you, there won’t be any practice this Thursday as both Cathy and I are not able to take the class.

Practice is still on tonight, but you get the night off on Thursday.

All back to normal next week.

Cheers Steve

Beginners Grading 30th March

There will be a grading for the beginners who have been with us for a while on the last Thursday in March (30th).

Even if you haven’t been told you will be grading, please come along to support those who are and also to see what is expected on your first grading.

There is also an article on this website in the members area, which explains what the instructors are looking for when you grade, which you may find useful.

Please speak to either myself or Cathy if you have any questions.

Cheers Steve

Grimsby Aikido Course – June 2015 – Update 3 – Cathy Knight Graded to 3rd Dan

Cathy Knight took a  great class on Saturday, demonstrating her flowing movement, co-ordination, power and in-depth knowledge of Aikido which has been developed over many years of dedicated practice.

At the end of the session, Cathy was awarded the Grade of 3rd Dan, something which again, is long over-due and extremely well deserved.

Well Done Cathy !

Grimsby Aikido Course – June 2015 – Update 2

The Saturday session of the June Course in Grimsby was taken by the Aikido Northampton instructors Aubrey, Cathy and Steve.

Aubrey was a little “crocked”, but still showed what can be achieved with little or no movement and by purely manipulating Uke into position.

Grimsby Aikido Course – June 2015 – Update 1

Hi Everyone,

Here is the first of two updates on the Aikido course in Grimsby a few weeks ago.

For all those that couldn’t make it, it really was a great course and even though we from Aikido Northampton did not stop for the Sunday session, we thoroughly enjoyed it, both on and off the mat !

It started off on Friday evening with our old friend (in both senses of the phrase) Mike Jennings being awarded a long overdue grade of 4th Dan, made even more special by the completely full mat and also an appearance by his first ever Aikido Instructor John Gorry

Grimsby Aikido Course – 19th, 20th & 21st June

Hi all,

There is a course in Grimsby on the above dates which will, I’m sure, be very worthwhile attending if possible.

The Friday night session (not shown on the poster) will be at the Sports and Leisure centre Cleethorpes and will be ran by Mike Jennings.

The Saturday and Sunday are are a different venue with many different instructors – please see the poster for more details. Any questions – just speak to Steve, Cathy or Joe.

You obviously don’t have to attend all sessions, hope to see you there.
